hey there... this is jyoti - one fo the festival directors. i totally agree that the festival needs some fine tuning in our new venue.. but that's only because it is a brand new venue after all! we had hit the highest peak possible at HFC and couldn't make the festival any better there. We also completely outgrew the venue. So this year was kinda like doing it again for the first time. If you have any ideas (I am fully aware about the directional signage issue - that was unfortunately an Exhibition Place fiasco) then plesae let us know about it. And Renita, do tell your aunts to give the festival a second chance - after 5 brilliant years - we moved to a new venue to grow into it - only you all can help us do that! ;) See you soon. jrana@satyaarts.com
I really do like how Jyoti is getting involved with the community. Heck, I am not even east asian and yet, my attendance is still important...the festival is for EVERYONE...me included. And you know what, damn straight I will go back next year. In fact, I will probably spread the news of how important the attendance, a happy attendance, is to the festival directors. So much so, that you will search out the blogosphere and see what people are saying...

Thanks Mish! The festival has been created for everyone to get a solid bite out of the South Asian culture. It's delicious I tell you! Help us to keep growing!
What happened to the website?
Anyway, one this you can do for next year is add a discussion forum on the website so people can start talking about the events, etc ahead of time...AND, create a masala mehndi masti blog where you can post other cultural events throughout the city, associations, partners, sponsors etc...make is a year round affair!
hey there
our website has been hacked for the 5th time in ten days!!! it's crazy! looking into a new isp. we do have a message board ! the blog idea is cool - do you think it'll distract attention from the messageboard though?
that is really frustrating!
I don't think it will distract attention. A message board is a place where your community can chat together (you too!)...the blog is a place where your community can chat with the festival directors and vice versa.
You can also use the blog to talk about ideas for next year's festival, who just signed up, sponsor links etc...all that stuff gets easily lost on message boards I find...but you may think otherwise?
Plus, you can post pictures, videos on a blog...not so easy and visible on a message board.
sounds about right... flipping website hacked again. i need to find a serious hacker to be friends with. this is nuts. will look into the blog!
That really, really sucks...time to start afresh I guess. Yup, the blog thing would be cool. If you are looking for some greta add on or widgets, check out tucows.com...:)
Some great blog providers are blogger (what I use and haven't had any serious issues with), typepad and wordpress...good luck! send me a line when you go live!
