Michelle! I check your blog nearly everyday and that also, from Dubai. I just flew in 3 days ago and didn't have a chance in between. I could kick myself. We've worked with Karan before (he generously donated his film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to our festival three years ago for the first ever - Bollywood Sing-A-Long - super success). I was thrilled to learn that you were working on NSG this year. I saw the film yesterday at RTH as a guest of Ajay Virmani. It would have been nice to run into you and say hello.
I had tried to get into the panel but just couldn't.
I finally got a hold of Stephen, albeit too late, who passed on my message to Karan. He called me back tonight and he's leaving tomorrow so I can't even meet up with him! Wah!
What do you think of him? We're planning on introducing a permanent Indian Film Industry component into MMM and want to do it in connection with Dharma Productions. Workshops, seminars, theatre, films, etc... Present it as it should be and NOT just as 'Bollywood movies'.
Hey Jyoti,
Yes, I wish I knew. I would have loved to say hello to you.
Karan is wonderful. I was with him on Saturday for his interviews and had a chance to talk to him in his limo...it was nice. I also got to walk the red carpet with him at the gala...also a treat to deal with. A very sweet man for sure! It was such a pleasure to work for him and his team.
Yup, the panel discussion was sold out in 30 minutes I heard. So many people were calling us trying to get tix.
Oh good. Yes, I had a contract with Stephen for TIFF. He is one of my very good friends. Yup, Karan had a very tight schedule. We really worked him in publicizing his event to the North American media and he was such a good sport about it all.
Oh yes - you should totally do a South Asian film festival in coordination with MMM. There are already so many other 'ethinic' festivals (reel asian for example)...I know that Karan is trying to push the Indian Film industry and try to get away from the 'bollywood' stereotype...
Call Stephen, he works hand in hand with the Director of Marketing at Dharma...(but after the festival, it is still pretty chaotic) ;)
sounds good Mish... yousound busy enough - but if you ever feel like gettin ginvolved with our lttle fest... let me know. ;) j
Hey Jyoti,
Well let me know any marketing areas you need some help with. I am currently freelancing my marketing expertise. However, if you just need some advice here and there, feel free to send me a line or two.
PS. Have you started planning next year's even already?
